Revista de Vinhos, tasting note published in June 6th 2023

Simultaneously exotic and appealing, it has citric notes under a forest mantle. The tannin is imperial, the textures succeed one another in a flurry, the volume never pinches elegance. It finishes with fresh vegetal nuances, very deep and with a temporal perspective that easily surpasses the next decade and a half. It's not a classic profile of Dão; it's such a unique profile that easily displaces us on the map. Above all, it's a great wine.

Quinta da Perdonda Wine Tradition

Paulo Nunes, a renowned winemaker, presents extraordinary wines from the Dão region at the charming Quinta da Perdonda, located in the Serra da Estrela.

“…and the winemaker makes the dream come true.

Celebrating 20 years of career, Paulo Nunes, one of the most talented, creative, and solid Portuguese winemakers, is embarking on a personal project of wine production. In Paços da Serra, Gouveia, alongside Paulo Pinheiro and Francisco Batista, he identified a hillside vineyard, after N17, heading towards Serra da Estrela, at an altitude of around 700 meters. Granitic soil, with some clay, rich in organic matter. Baga prevails in the reds, alongside Jaen and Tinta Amarela. Among the whites, Dona Branca and Barcelo are the predominant varieties. There is also Fernão-Pires, Bical, Malvasia, and even Uva Cão, with almost no trace of Encruzado.
Born in Armamar, in the near future, Paulo Nunes’ personal wines will include those from the Douro and Távora-Varosa regions, sourced from old vines on his parents’ properties.” – in Revista de Vinhos, December 2023
