O Produtor, tasting note published in July 1st 2023

Elegant, intense and complex nose with mineral and stony notes dominating. Notes of citrus and white fruit, spices and pastries. Great freshness and elegance in the mouth, together with great texture and structure, fantastic acidity and persistent flavour.

Grande Druida

From winemaker Nuno Mira do Ó:

The Grande Druida Reserva Encruzado comes from a unique plot of Encruzado grapes, located 500 meters above sea level on the right bank of the Dão river. The granitic soils, although quite clayey, give these grapes a special character. This white wine is aged for two years before being released, and it will only be made in the best harvests. The first edition comes as a tribute to a great friend and winemaker who, together with Nuno Mira do Ó, created the first Druida: João Corrêa.

Fermented using only natural yeasts in oak barrels (the sacred tree of the druids), it is a unique wine for its complexity and personality.

Climate: Cold, windy, and humid autumns and winters. Mild springs and hot, dry summers.

Soils: Granitic, with clay.

Vinification: Fermentation in French oak barrels (20% new, 80% used), without the addition of yeasts.

Aging: 10 months in barrels where it fermented. Bottled in July 2022 and aged in bottles since then.

Mira do Ó

Old vines, century-old vines, hillside vines, lowland vines, clay or stony vines, all produce different wines.
It has been our mission to interpret all the differences that exist in the vines and transpose them into the different wines. Our major focus is on old vines of Baga, in the case of the reds, and Bical in the case of the whites, although in some vineyards there are blends with other local grape varieties.
The oenology is minimalist in terms of intervention but quite differentiated and adapted to each of the different vineyards, i.e., the different plots also have a different approach in the winery in order to better reveal what we believe to be their purest expression.
We want wines that are tense, fresh and complex, with a great connection to the terroir and a unique personality and that, fundamentally, will give us pleasure for many years.
