O Produtor, tasting note published in November 24th 2014

Very bright and deep ruby red. Red fruits (strawberry, raspberry) in perfect harmony with the secondary aromas of the barrel. The wood perfectly respects the evolution of the aromas of the wine. A balanced, very subtle wine, with great aromatic freshness. Fresh, silky, very fine attack, with elegant and round tannins of long persistence. A very elegant and balanced wine. VIK 2011 has characteristics similar to the great wines of Bordeaux, but with more freshness, more fruit, more dynamic, with tannins of great precision without excess.

Vik Wines

VIK was created in Millahue, in the Cachapoal Valley. This is a vineyard that embodies the perfect fusion of man, experience, land, climate and high technology.

THE PERFECT TERROIR
The VIK vineyard was born at the foot of the Andes Mountains, within the Millahue Valley, called “Lugar de Oro” or “Golden Place” by the native Mapuche people: 4,300 hectares of astonishing Chilean nature where more than 327 hectares of vines have been planted.

VIK’s terroir offers a majestic and natural landscape made up of 12 valleys, each with its own microclimate, distinct exposures, all within a wind tunnel cooled by coastal breezes from the Pacific and winds from high in the Andes that give VIK enormous complexity and exceptional variety.

OENOLOGIST
Head winemaker Cristian Vallejo oversees VIK’s viticulture and winemaking, ensuring that grapes are hand-picked and fermentation occurs naturally, without the addition of yeasts.

The wines are aged in a combination of new and used French oak barrels.
