With a deep ruby color, it impresses on the nose with extraordinary complexity and aromatic freshness, where wild fruit aromas, gentle spice, and elegant notes of gum rockrose stand out. On the palate, it begins in a captivating way, evolving into a complex wine, with excellent volume and a solid structure, composed of fresh tannins with a fine texture. A unique wine that reflects the unique personality and identity of a century-old vineyard nestled in a unique and challenging terroir. It finishes very seductive, full of freshness, and very persistent.

Quinta do Crasto

Since its first release in 1998, Quinta do Crasto Vinha Maria Teresa has conquered the status of being one of the great Portuguese wines, having received top reviews in the national and international press over recent years.
It is exclusively sourced from Vinha Maria Teresa, a small plot of centenary vines that inspired its name and which is one of the oldest at Quinta do Crasto. This vineyard plot is located at extremely low altitudes and enjoys excellent sun exposure. Quinta do Crasto Vinha Maria Teresa is a super premium, single vineyard, Douro DOC red wine that is only bottled in exceptional years and always in strictly limited numbers.
Taking advantage of the low yield of these old vines, the Quinta do Crasto winemaking team has managed to make a world class wine that is complex and full of character and that is capable of ageing in the bottle for years to come.
Quinta do Crasto Vinha Maria Teresa has only been produced in the following years: 1998, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2009, 2011 and 2013. 2007 witnessed the largest production, 8,001 bottles. For many wine lovers, Quinta do Crasto Vinha Maria Teresa is one of the great Douro wines and one of the most emblematic. Having the chance to taste this wine is a veritable privilege.

Quinta do Crasto

The first known references to Quinta do Crasto can be traced back to 1615, long before the Douro Valley became the world’s first demarcated wine region in 1756. The property is a historic one and is recorded as having been awarded “feitoria” status (the highest vineyard classification of the time) in 1761. The original demarcation was marked with a series of granite markers. One of these markers, called “marco pombalino”, dating back to 1758, is still visible at the Quinta.

In the early 1900s, Quinta do Crasto was purchased by Constantino de Almeida, founder of the famous Constantino Port house. Following his death in 1923, his son, Fernando de Almeida, continued to run the Quinta, producing stellar Port wines.

In 1981, Fernando de Almeida’s daughter, Leonor Roquette, and her husband, Jorge Roquette, assumed majority ownership and management of the estate. With the help of their sons, Miguel and Tomás, they began the process of remodelling and expanding the vineyards and facilities to enable the production of top quality Port and Douro wines. Quinta do Crasto has now reclaimed its rightful status as one of the great family estates of the Douro region.
