O Produtor, tasting note published in May 27th 2017
This wine has a ruby red color and an aroma with vegetable and grape notes, giving the wine sensations of freshness; linking them with notes of cocoa, obviously warmer and sweeter. The fresh fruit is also evidenced, balancing the aroma of this nectar as a whole. The mouth has an elegant entrance, and as the wine warms in the mouth it becomes more compact and bulky. Tannin and acidity in permanent symbiosis, making its end of mouth extremely charismatic.
Vinification: Receipt of grapes in 20 kg boxes, followed by total destemming and light crushing. This Pôpa Black Edition is a blend also due to the different processes of vinification: the grapes coming from Vinhas Velhas and Touriga Franca were vinified in mills with foot steps; the rest of Tinta Roriz, Tina Amarela and Tinto Cão were vinified in stainless steel tanks. After the end of the alcoholic fermentation, the grapes were gently pressed. As with winemaking, the stage was done separately by caste. The stage took place in used French oak barrels of 225 liters, during different periods between 10 to 15 months.
