Robert Parker, tasting note published in December 12th 2014

The 2009 Mouton-Rothschild is as concentrated as the 2010, but presents itself in a more consumer-friendly and seductive style. Opulently textured and full-bodied with levels of crème de cassis, melted liquorice, toasted coffee and chocolate, it has high but sweet, velvety tannins, massive body, and fabulous purity as well as length of mouth.

Château Mouton Rothschild

An exceptional vintage par excellence for Bordeaux vineyards, 2009 benefited from extremely generous weather conditions which were very favourable for the vine cycle and for the ripening of the grapes. A very sunny summer and cool nights alternating with warm days in September allowed the grapes to concentrate their aromas and colours, resulting in a vintage of exceptional quality.

2009 vintage blend: 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 12% Merlot.

The entire harvest is hand-picked and 100% is put into new barrels for 19 to 22 months before bottling.

Château Mouton Rothschild

It was in 1853 that Baron Nathaniel de Rothschild bought Château Brane-Mouton, which he immediately renamed Château Mouton-Rothschild located in the territories of Pauillac.

After being ranked second on the prestigious 1855 list, it became a Premier Grand Cru in 1973, and thus part of a limited list as there are only 5 Premiers Grands Crus: Château Lafite-Rothschild, Château Latour, Château Mouton-Rothschild the three Pauillacs, Château Margaux, the only Margaux, Haut-Brion, the only Graves until 1986 and since then Pessac-Léognan.

The vineyard extends over some 80 hectares planted in varieties typical of the Medoc and Haut-Medoc regions .
