Antonio Galloni, tasting note published in August 26th 2022

Ceretto's 2016 Bricco Roche is creamy, ample and wonderfully inviting, especially for a young wine. Silky tannins and soft fruit meld so well with the wine's mid-weight structure. Sweet rose petals, red berries, mint, blood orange and cedar are some of the many notes that open up with a little air. The 2016 captures all the elegance and delicacy that are the signatures of this Castilgione Falletto site.

Ceretto

This Castiglione Falletto vineyard is the smallest geographical area within the Barolo specification and comprises just over 1 hectare. It is the most prestigious part of what was once called La Serra and is nestled between the Villero and the Rocche (rock face) of Castiglione, which represents the best of the top parts; it can be considered a monopolo, as the entire plot is owned exclusively by the Ceretto family.

Ceretto

All I know has been a gift of years spent waiting for shoots and fruit, dreading the clouds that come close to harvest, listening to the wind that brings hail, watching the sun beat down on the stump, pruning and watching the pruning, picking up a handful of earth, closing the fist, and opening it to see if the earth crumbles, or sticks.””
