O Produtor, tasting note published in November 9th 2022

2018 was a cool year; the spring was inspired and the summer was patient, which, together with average temperatures, allowed the tannins to ripen quickly and become crisp and dynamic. Autumn was cheerful and fresh, without excess, giving rise to an early harvest characterized by ripe fruits with pure aromas that enchant. The aromas are reflected in a dark, enigmatic and deep colour. A unique and elegant blend, which shows the virtues of our terroir, the characteristics of the harvest and the hard work of the entire VIK team to obtain great quality, with the greatest respect for nature. An expressive, frank, straightforward, elegant, pure and dynamic wine, but also tense and vibrant... it is its personality, the result of an exceptional harvest that has given us the most authentic and true expression of our terroir of Millahue. Cabernet Sauvignon seduces with its firm, elegant but patient structure and its linear flow of young red fruits with bright, vibrant, velvety and slightly taut tannins. The precise Cabernet Franc brings its minerality and invites us to enjoy a pleasant and endless aftertaste, encompassing in all its dimensions. It also provides spices that combine with perfect, balanced acidity to create a nervous, yet relaxed and confident wine that ends in a long, pleasant and unforgettable finish.

Vik Wines

VIK was created in Millahue, in the Cachapoal Valley. This is a vineyard that embodies the perfect fusion of man, experience, land, climate and high technology.

THE PERFECT TERROIR
The VIK vineyard was born at the foot of the Andes Mountains, within the Millahue Valley, called “Lugar de Oro” or “Golden Place” by the native Mapuche people: 4,300 hectares of astonishing Chilean nature where more than 327 hectares of vines have been planted.

VIK’s terroir offers a majestic and natural landscape made up of 12 valleys, each with its own microclimate, distinct exposures, all within a wind tunnel cooled by coastal breezes from the Pacific and winds from high in the Andes that give VIK enormous complexity and exceptional variety.

OENOLOGIST
Head winemaker Cristian Vallejo oversees VIK’s viticulture and winemaking, ensuring that grapes are hand-picked and fermentation occurs naturally, without the addition of yeasts.

The wines are aged in a combination of new and used French oak barrels.
