O Produtor, tasting note published in June 28th 2020

With Jaen we discovered the Iberian Peninsula in Portugal (an identity associated with the caste Mencia). The fresh altitude of the Dão lands promotes succulence, bluish fruit and white spice. The slopes of Taboadella bring us this modernity. Jaen is one of our treasures and the joy of fruity and intense aromas, combined with Jamaica pepper, puts the variety in another dimension. The beautiful structure supported by soft, fine and coated tannins perfectly matches the tense and at the same time delicate body that this wine provides.

Thanks to the meticulous work done throughout the year, a remarkable grape quality was obtained. A longer ripening period allowed for a purified phenolic ripening which was fundamental in obtaining the
desired quality. The wines were aromatically pure, with exuberant fruit and enormous complexity. As a clear consequence of long maturation, the wines from the 2018 vintage have a vertical structure, opulent body and a silky texture, very characteristic of the unique place of Taboadella vineyards. Ageing 50% new 500l French oak barrels for 7 months; 50% in stainless steel vats.
Limited to existing stock. In case the wine you bought is out of stock, we will contact you to propose a different wine, or to return the amount paid.

The connection of the Amorim family to wine dates back to 1870, through its first business in the production of cork stoppers for the Port Wine Cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia. Today it is one of the most prominent family groups in Portugal, extending its business in several countries of the world in different sectors of activity.
Since 1999, the fourth generation has been developing the wine business through the hands of Luisa Amorim, working in estates of excellence where the vine and wine have ancestral roots and a deep cultural sense: in the Douro, in Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo and now in Dão, in Taboadella, creating wines with an extraordinary character, coming from unique places.
