O Produtor, tasting note published in May 27th 2021
Floral notes combined with wild berries in a set of great harmony and elegance. Aromatic freshness combined with complexity blend well and propel the wine towards a long and persistent finish.
From vines planted in the Pinhão river valley, high up and on traditional schist stone terraces, came the grapes that produced this Passadouro Red 2019. 55% Tinta Roriz, 25% Touriga Francesa, 10% Touriga Nacional, 10% field blend of old vines with the mixture of traditional Douro varieties give this wine a fresh, complex, and intense character.
An excellent wine from this special Douro terroir with oenology by Adalberto Ferreira.
Vinification: This wine is fermented with temperature control in stainless steel tanks. All grapes are destemmed and undergo malolactic fermentation after alcoholic fermentation.
Aging: 100% aged in French oak barrels for 12 months, 10% in new wood. Bottled in May 2021.

Quinta do Passadouro
The Quinta do Passadouro dates back to the 18th century and was always famous for its port wines. The domain is located in the sub region of Cima Corgo near the village of Pinhão. The extreme climate, hot during the day but very cold at night, means that the grapes ripen more slowly than in other regions of the Douro giving freshness to the wines. This results in harvests of the very best quality. Tradicionally, the best vintage and late bottled vintage ports came from renowned port houses also in this area. As a result of the step inclines made of slate, and the limited width of terraces, the grapes are picked by hand. The wine makers deliberately choose organic agricultural methods and reject the use of any kind of chemicals. It is only in this way that they can ensure a perfect base product for their excellent wines.
