O Produtor, tasting note published in September 5th 2022
Concentrated ruby colour with notes of eucalyptus typical of the variety. Structure, concentration and acidity in a very fresh and energetic combination that will allow a good evolution in the bottle.
Indígena is the first fully organic wine from Herdade do Rocim.
Climate: Typically Mediterranean, in the Vidigueira wine sub-region, where the mildest weather conditions in Alentejo are found. This microclimate provides an ideal environment for the production of high-quality wines.
Soils: Low-yielding schist soils with excellent suitability for viticulture and the production of outstanding wines.
Vinification: Manual harvest in 12 kg boxes. At the winery, the grapes were carefully selected on a vibrating sorting table, destemmed and gently crushed. Fermentation took place in cement tanks.
Herdade do Rocim is a property located between Vidigueira and Cuba, in Baixo Alentejo, with about 120 hectares, including 70 hectares of vineyards and 10 hectares of olive groves. Acquired in 2000 by Movicortes, S.A., in the following years there was restructuring and qualification work, consummated with the planting of most of the vineyard that today constitutes the Herdade do Rocim. This process of implantation was made according to specific criteria that allow the production of high quality grapes. The winery is a structuring element of the Herdade do Rocim project, which combines wine production with the aesthetic quality of its architecture and works as a promotional element for the requalification of the region. At Herdade do Rocim all efforts go in the direction of doing well, always improving and with a constant concern for the quality of the wine.
