Jeb Dunnuck, tasting note published in June 2nd 2019

A selection of barrels from the best locations the estate works with, this cuvée is always 100% Syrah that is unoaked and raised in neutral oak The 2016 Syrah Cuvée Keltie is another prodigious effort that offers everything you could want from a cool-climate California Syrah. Deep ruby in colour, with an impressive bouquet of dark fruits, ground pepper, lavender, cured meats, and dried flowers, it is full-bodied, beautifully concentrated, multi-dimensional, and has exciting length.

Cuvée Keltie is a direct result of careful study in the vineyard. Identifying subtle changes in terroir and personality in the vineyard allows our team to isolate a few sections of vineyards – sometimes just a few rows or the top of a hill and often in increments of one or two tons. Optimal ripening in these sections, combined with large percentages of total grapes, creates a wine that we like.
80% of the grapes fermented in small batches without new oak and 22 months of élevage (the French term for the progression of wine from fermentation to bottling.
