Capela da Atela

Endowed with a unique elegance, so was born the first Old Vinic Brandy in the Tejo Region, A Capela de Atela 20 Anos XO.

This spirit was obtained by the distillation of wines made with the Fernão-Pires grape variety, harvested early to preserve all its acidity and freshness.

As soon as the alcoholic fermentation finished, the wines were distilled and redistilled in alembic “Charantais” by a master distiller, with decades of experience in this type of ancestral distillation, so typical of the Cognac region in France.

After redistillation, the brandies were aged for about 20 years in new “Limousine” wooden casks, resulting in a product of great nobility.

Quinta da Atela

Quinta da Atela, located in Alpiarça, on the south bank of the river Tejo, was created in 1346 by the Counts of Ourém and donated to the Convent of Graça de Santarém of Agostinhos Calçados, at the time still called Quinta da Goucha. The main activity focuses on wine production with grape varieties of high potential, adapted to the soil and climate of the property, transmitting to the wines the best of the essence of the vineyards, the terroir and the Ribatejo.
This project of Quinta da Atela originates from a historical passion of producing regional wine from Tejo.
