O Produtor, tasting note published in May 25th 2023
Bright citrine-colored wine. The nose reveals aromas of stone fruits, dried herbs, hints of gunpowder and a subtle toasted note. On the palate, it shows excellent freshness and balance, with good volume, elegant crisp acidity, and a long, lingering finish.
Vines: The vines located at Quinta do Porto Nogueira are managed under organic farming practices. Special attention is given to soil maintenance, focusing on erosion control and increasing organic matter content. We prioritize minimal soil disturbance and the application of natural manure.
Vinification: A rigorous selection and sorting of clusters and berries is performed on 100% of the grapes. Pressing is pneumatic and gentle, followed by fermentation at 15ºC in stainless steel tanks. The aging of the blend (40% Encruzado, 60% Sauvignon Blanc) includes 20% in Seguin Moreau French oak barrels.
Analytical parameters: Total acidity: 5.41 g/L | pH: 3.17 | Total sugars: 1.2 g/L.

Casa Romana Vini
In the lands that today constitute Quinta do Porto Nogueira and Quinta da Escusa, the family began to plant vineyards, privileging the terroirs once occupied by old vines, always with the objective of producing exceptional grapes and making unique wines, originated in Quinta Nogueira , Quinta da Escusa and Quinta da Página. Quinta do Porto Nogueira is located in Alguber, in the municipality of Cadaval, about 70 km west of Lisbon. In the first half of the eighteenth century, it was always owned by the same family and was donated to the Academy of Sciences of Lisbon, around 1980. Since 2004 it is a Romana Vini estate. Quinta da Escusa is located in Senhora da Escusa, in the municipality of Rio Maior, about 70 km northeast of Lisbon, between the villages of Quintas and Vale Barco. Part of the Quinta da Escusa estate belonged to the grandparents and parents of the current owners who, over the decades, exercised agriculture and viticulture. The secular house of Quinta do Porto Nogueira is set against the Roman Bridge over the Arnóia river, which would be the passage of the Roman road that linked Collippo (near Leiria) to Eburobrittium (Óbidos) and that followed to Olisipo (Lisbon). The bridge is testimony to the presence of the Romans in the region and inspired the name Romana Vini, Family Winery.
