Quinta D’Azinheira
Region: Douro – Baixo Corgo sub-region.
Quinta D’Azinheira is located in the authentic village of Azinheira (Santa Marta de Penaguião), set in an amphitheater of extraordinary natural beauty on the left bank of the Corgo River. Production is made exclusively from estate-grown grapes cultivated between 300 and 400 meters of altitude.
Vineyard: Old vines aged between 40 and 80 years, planted on schist soils with high stoniness, which give identity and complexity to the wine.
Winemaking: Grapes were hand-harvested at optimal ripeness and transported in 20 kg boxes. After meticulous manual sorting, they were destemmed and gently crushed. Pressing was carried out using a vertical press. The resulting must was cold-settled at 8 °C for 48 hours in stainless steel. Alcoholic fermentation took place at a controlled temperature of 12 °C over 30 days. The wine aged for 12 months in second-use French oak barrels, with fine lees stirring. Bottled in November 2024.
