O Produtor, tasting note published in August 21st 2024

Intense lemon-yellow colour. On the nose, aromas of stone fruits stand out – apricot, mango and pear – wrapped in delicate floral notes of chamomile. On the palate, this white reveals great creaminess, vibrant freshness, and an elegant finish.

Quinta D´Azinheira

A house surrounded by 14 hectares of vineyards, with a winery, fruit trees, and a generous vegetable garden. The indoor dining room features a cozy kitchen with a traditional fireplace, where the crackling wood warms body and soul during the colder months. Outside, a sunny terrace invites guests to enjoy beautiful views of the vineyards. Visitors are welcome to admire the landscape, play with our dogs, and taste fruit picked directly from the trees.

Quinta D’Azinheira has a history tied to the Real Companhia Velha, formerly known as Geral das Vinhas do Alto Douro. In 1977, Mr. Acácio Morais Mesquita purchased the estate for his family. A man of the Douro and a visionary for his time, he loved having the house full of friends, sharing stories, and working the land. Today, his daughter Dora Mesquita continues the project, keeping alive the family tradition and spirit.

The first wine was produced in 1990, and since then, through hard work and dedication, we have won the favor of those who taste our wines. Together with the winemaker Luís Leocádio — whose wines were awarded “Best of the Year 2022” by Revista de Vinhos / Essência do Vinho — we aim to increase the recognition of this region so rich in history and flavor.
