The Story Behind the Name
“Montaria” is a tribute to man’s best friend: the dog. Our Montaria, a real German Shepherd, lives at Herdade da Candeeira in the Redondo area of Alentejo, and accompanies the vineyard and field team every day, sharing the work and spirit of this place where soulful wines are born.
Region
Alentejo is the largest and one of the most diverse wine regions in Portugal. With a Mediterranean climate and continental influence, it is marked by significant temperature variations, especially in the inland areas near the Spanish border. The region showcases a wide range of grape varieties, both white and red.
Winemaking
Grapes from the best plots were carefully selected and destemmed. A light cold maceration was carried out, followed by fermentation at a controlled temperature of 16 °C to preserve the wine’s primary aromas and natural freshness.
