Fermentou num tonel novo de 1000 litros (botticella). Vinhas velhas e muitas castas originaram um branco austero, firme na fruta madura, com as notas da madeira a envolverem o conjunto que resulta com muito boa estrutura. Excelente largura de boca, cheio, com imenso carácter, sem ceder a modas, com acidez ajustada. No final regressam as notas da madeira a deixar rasto muito persistente. Um branco notável.

Equinócio

Vineyard
Made from multiple ancient varietals present on a very old vineyard located at the outskirts of the Reguengo village, in Serra de S. Mamede (the unique mountain above 1000 meters’ altitude in the South of Portugal). The vineyard faces eastward, at an altitude of 598 meters, and the soil is granitic (Ordovician).
Yields are very low. We cannot indicate any variety dominance. There are about 14 different varieties from a mass selection made until the early twentieth century.

Vinification
Harvest one month earlier than normal. Started on August 16, 2017, ended on August 24, 2017. Healthy grapes were harvested and crushed. The resulting must decanted naturally for 48 hours. Natural yeast fermentation took place in 9 old casks. The fine lees maturation lasted until the end of July 2018. The wine in the 9 old casks was bottled on August 22, 2018 without fining agents and without filtration.
