Dr. Loosen
Auslese” is a designation for quality wines. Pronounced [OWS-lay-zuh], it means “selected from the harvest” and refers to a rare and lush sweet wine made from very ripe clusters affected by noble rot, Botrytis Cinerea.
The extremely steep Treppchen (“Little Stairs”) vineyard, in the village of Erden, is planted in rocky red slate soil that produces complex wines with a muscular mineral structure.
The Dr. Loosen Erdener Treppchen Riesling Auslese (“selective late harvest”) is produced with fully ripe grapes, partially affected by noble rot (at least 50%), carefully selected.
Pairs wonderfully with fruit-based desserts or semi-soft cheeses like blue cheese.
