O Produtor, tasting note published in July 23rd 2022

Throughout every winemaker’s life, there are wines and moments that leave a deep mark — and deserve a place on our curriculum.
This wine is one of those moments. We called it CV – Curriculum Vitae.
Created by Nature, it comes from a single vineyard and, each year, reveals its elegant and persistent profile.
CV Douro White 2021 is the result of a year of excellent quality, marked by great balance and elegance.
It presents aromas of lime, lemon and pear, with subtle notes of nougat and a light buttery touch.
It has great ageing potential in bottle, and reveals its mystery over time.
Perfect to enjoy with: Oven-baked fish; Lightly grilled or roasted meats; Wide selection of cheeses. Suggested serving temperature: 14 °C.

CV Curriculum Vitae

“In 42 harvests in the Douro, 2021 was the best year in quality and volume for our vineyards used for CV Douro White and Red.” – Cristiano van Zeller

The 2020/2021 vintage year was, overall, normal and dry.
The lack of rainfall until March led to very little mildew pressure. Mild spring and summer temperatures created favourable conditions for powdery mildew, making it essential to apply protective and curative treatments to prevent it from affecting the proper development and ripening of the grapes. Although March and May were very dry, the winter rains enabled healthy vine growth and grape ripening, even with a hot, dry August. Some rainfall in September helped to close the grape ripening cycle, and the final production volume in the Douro region ended slightly above average.

Old vineyard over 80 years old, planted in schist soil, composed of various traditional Douro grape varieties, such as: Rabigato, Samarrinho, Donzelinho Branco, Viosinho, Códega, among others.

Winemaking: Manual harvest; Rigorous selection; Destemming and gentle crushing; Soft pneumatic pressing; Must settling for 24h at 10 °C; Fermentation in French oak barrels (225L and 500L) for over 25 days between 10 °C and 14 °C; Aged for over 8 months with bâtonnage in the same barrels.

Bottling: September 2022.
