O Produtor, tasting note published in June 27th 2025

Very clear and bright yellow, with greenish reflections. A lively and fresh aroma, of great elegance, mineral and crystalline. After swirling, subtle floral aromas emerge, such as white roses and jasmine. On the palate, excellent sensation of volume and smoothness, with warmer flavors, always balanced by the characteristic acidity of Quinta dos Bons Ares. The Bons Ares White 2024 perfectly captures the unique terroir of this Quinta.

Bons Ares

THE WINE
Quinta dos Bons Ares is located in the Upper Douro, in the municipality of Vila Nova de Foz Côa. It is a very specific place due to its granitic soils and altitude (600m), which give the grapes structure, acidity, and an unusual aromatic potential in this region. This wine from Casa Ramos Pinto is a good example of innovative tradition. A modern classic.

THE YEAR
Rainy winter, spring with some showers, and very dry summer. The vegetative cycle was notably early in all phases due to the water present in the soil and the mild spring temperatures. During July and August, temperatures were high. At Quinta dos Bons Ares, the harvest of white grapes began in mid-August and ended in the third week of September.

VINIFICATION
The harvest date of each plot is decided after successive grape tastings in the field. Once the decision is made, grapes are handpicked and transported to the winemaking center, separated by variety and plot. This is followed by a cold whole-cluster maceration for about 24 hours. The fresh grapes are gently pressed without destemming or crushing, and the must is transferred to underground vats where decantation takes place. The turbidity of the must is adjusted, and fermentation begins. About 90% of the wine ferments and ages in stainless steel tanks, with the remaining 10% in French and Austrian oak barrels of different capacities for 8 months. This wine was bottled at the end of May 2025.

GASTRONOMY
The Bons Ares White 2024 is an ideal aperitif and pairs very well with shellfish and grilled fish dishes.

Ramos Pinto

Founded by Adriano Ramos Pinto in 1880, Casa Ramos Pinto rapidly became noted, at the time, for its innovative and enterprising strategy. Associated with quality bottled wines, it began operating on the Brazilian market in the early 20th century and quickly became responsible for half of the wine exported to South America, whilst it was still conquering generations of loyal customers in Portugal and Europe. These were the natural results of a forward thinking strategy, based on the modernisation of selection, batching and ageing circuits, the continuous wine research and the special care which Adriano Ramos Pinto devoted to the packaging and promotion of his wines.
The Ramos Pinto wines have therefore become a reference of quality.

From the very onset was born a unique collection of art objects, which are displayed today in the recently opened Museum Area – Casa Ramos Pinto.
The taste for culture instilled by Adriano Ramos Pinto in the working philosophy of Casa Ramos Pinto, is still alive today. In 1997, Casa Ramos Pinto created the Ervamoira On-Site Museum, aimed at environmental, oenological, archaeological and anthropological research of the Vale do Côa. Researchers also have at their disposal the Historical Archives in Vila Nova de Gaia, with a precious collection of documents on the production and export of wines from the late 19th century.

Aware that the quality of its wines were confined to the earth of the wine producing Douro, Casa Ramos Pinto meticulously studied this Demarcated Region, and eventually became the owners of a number of estates with very special characteristics. The objective was to ensure the control and quality of the whole production process. By perfecting its wines, Ramos Pinto created unique nectars with its own signature.

In 1990, Casa Ramos Pinto became part of the Roederer Group, whose history has identical characteristics. So, the qualities that gave fame to Casa Ramos Pinto took on an international dimension.
