O Produtor, tasting note published in June 24th 2024

Bright lemon-yellow colour. Aromas of lime and lemon, fresh grass and wet stone, strongly reminiscent of Loire Valley Sauvignon Blancs from France. Medium-bodied and silky, with lively but balanced acidity, offering a citrus-driven profile mingled with subtle vegetal nuances. The finish is long and mineral.

Bella Élégance

Quinta de Bella, covering 50 hectares (23 ha of vineyards), is fully committed to traditional, sustainable dry-farming viticulture. The grapes produced here are concentrated, flavourful, and marked by a striking minerality, resulting in wines with great aromatic complexity and rich texture.

The Bella Elegance range features single-varietal wines focused on fruit expression, ready to drink upon release. In contrast, the Grand Bella (top-tier) and Dom Bella (mid-range) collections showcase more structured wines, aged in oak and built for cellaring.

LOCATION: Portugal (IVV – Wines of Portugal). Sourced primarily from Quinta de Bella.

TERROIR: Continental climate, influenced by the Serra da Estrela mountains. Benefits from the proximity of the Dão River. The vineyards are densely planted (6250 vines/ha) in high-quality granite soils, often referred to as “rotten granite” or “noble granite”. All vineyards are dry-farmed.

VINIFICATION: Mechanized harvest. Gentle pneumatic pressing. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks with temperature control. Light bâtonnage for the first 4 months only. No malolactic fermentation in order to preserve freshness. The wine remains in stainless steel until bottling. Released after a minimum of 3 months in bottle for better integration.
