Muros Antigos
Muros Antigos Alvarinho is made exclusively from the noble Alvarinho grape variety, grown in the Monção and Melgaço sub-region. This area benefits from a unique microclimate, surrounded by mountains that create a perfect balance of rainfall, temperature, and sunlight—essential conditions for optimal grape ripening. The wine comes from sun-exposed hillside vineyards with poor, granitic soils, ensuring both freshness and complexity.
The grapes are hand-harvested into small crates and quickly transported to the winery. They are then gently pressed as whole bunches after destemming, followed by cold clarification for 48 to 72 hours. Fermentation takes place slowly at controlled temperatures between 14 and 18°C. The wine is aged for at least three months on fine lees with regular bâtonnage, enhancing its texture and aromatic depth.
