Quinta do Ferro
Quinta do Ferro has been a pioneer since its foundation in 1999, being the first winery in the region to be built and designed from the ground up for sparkling wine production. It remains a benchmark producer of sparkling wine in the Vinho Verde region.
The vineyard is under a special microclimate and on granitic soil with shale outcrops; located at 400 meters above sea level and named “riverbank vineyard,” it is from here that the grapes are harvested for Quinta do Ferro Sparkling Red.
Vinification and Ageing: The selected grapes are hand-harvested in 12 kg crates, destemmed, and crushed in a small lagar. After foot treading, the must is in contact with the skins for 24 hours. Alcoholic fermentation takes place for approximately 12 days, with foot treading and temperature control. Natural stabilization with a minimum of 12 months on fine lees. Second fermentation in the bottle according to the Classic Method. Minimum ageing in the cellar for 12 months.
Gastronomy: Served between 8/10°C with complex dishes and fatty meats (e.g., suckling pig). Good to pair with pasta and pizzas.
