O Produtor, tasting note published in February 25th 2024

Delicate aroma with hints of wildflowers and fresh strawberry. On the palate, it is saline, crisp, dry and full-bodied, standing apart from traditional rosés.

Morgado do Quintão

Palhete Algarvio is a wine that revives the Algarve’s traditional winemaking techniques, blending red and white grape varieties — Negra Mole and Crato Branco (Roupeiro) — in a simple, authentic approach that expresses the region’s terroir. The grapes are hand-harvested, directly pressed, and fermented at controlled temperatures, with no added sulphites until the end of fermentation.

Produced at Morgado do Quintão — a historic estate with almost two centuries of winemaking legacy in Silves — this wine proudly celebrates the viticultural heritage of the Algarve and stands as a true ambassador for the region’s authentic identity.

Today, the new generation of Morgado do Quintão is committed to reviving the forgotten roots of Algarvian viticulture. Guided by the philosophy of “The Algarve’s Landmark Vineyard” and winemaker Joana Maçanita’s motto — “less man, more land” — they bring tradition and innovation together in every bottle.

Food Pairing: Pairs beautifully with shellfish, fresh fish or traditional dishes from the Algarve.

Morgado do Quintão

Wildly enveloped by the pastoral verdure of the Algarvian Barrocal, Morgado do Quintão was founded in the early 1800s by the Count of Silves, and still remains in the same family, one whose unerring and resilient passion for the land, food, adventure and entertaining merges with a love of local heritage, beauty and conservation.
