Macán Clásico is an exemplary wine from the Sonsierra region of La Rioja, with centuries of tradition, knowledge and wine culture in the foothills of the Sierra de Cantabria. The selection, acquisition and cultivation of 100 hectares of vineyards for this wine have been the object of hard work since 2004, as well as commendable efforts at the winery since 2009 (the year the first vintage was released). In addition, Tempos Vega Sicilia and Compagnie Vinicole Baron Edmond de Rothschild have had modern facilities in the Rioja DOCa region since 2016, where innovation, technology and wine science converge. and wine science.
This wine is made from a single grape variety: 100% Tempranillo. The grapes come from plots with alkaline sandy-clay soil. Concentration and power were expected in this vintage, given the warmer cycle of the vine, which proved to be true, but the 80 litres that fell in September caused a radical change in the texture of the skins, from drier to firmer-textured, yet still noble grapes. A vintage with very soft extractions, almost infused, nature giving it all. We also reduced the effect of American oak during ageing, favouring toast to bring more freshness.
