O Produtor, tasting note published in January 23rd 2021

On the nose, it reveals the purity of the baga grape, showing ripe fruit and balsamic notes. On the palate, it strikes a perfect balance between power and elegance, with great harmony and persistence — a promise of long ageing potential in bottle.

Vadio Rexarte

Rexarte embodies our mission to protect the purity of our terroir’s expression. Produced only in exceptional years and in very limited quantities — rarely exceeding 1,300 bottles — the Rexarte vineyard lies on a north-facing slope of approximately 0.3 hectares, with transitional soils ranging from sandy to clay-limestone. Yields are extremely low, allowing for excellent concentration and resulting in wines of great complexity and rich texture.

Vinification takes place in small vats, partly with whole bunches, using manual punch-downs. Fermentation is driven by indigenous yeasts. As soon as the alcoholic fermentation is complete, the wine begins its ageing in used 500L French oak barrels.

Vadio Bairrada Doc

VADIO is situated in the village of Poutena in the region of BAIRRADA. It is a small and family project founded in 2005 by winemaker Luís Patrão, whose essential element is the recovery of traditional grape varieties and the production of authentic DOC BAIRRADA wines. We have three totally distinct small vineyards and an old warehouse which we have adapted in a very simple way for the production of wine. Our wines present a classic style that intends to respect the authenticity of the region and the character of the grape varieties that give it origin.
