Colour: deep ruby.
Nose: marked intensity and aromatic complexity, with vibrant notes of fresh red fruits in perfect harmony with delicate hints of fine spices.
Palate: begins with elegance, revealing a wine with a robust and well-defined structure, supported by silky-textured tannins. The whole is balanced and enveloping, culminating in a fresh and persistently long finish.

Roquette & Cazes

Crafted with the technological precision of Bordeaux vinification and using the Douro’s signature grape varieties – Touriga Nacional (60%), Touriga Franca (25%), and Tinta Roriz (15%) – this wine faithfully expresses the region’s unique identity.

Viticulture and winemaking: All grapes are hand-harvested. Upon arrival at the winery, they undergo careful selection, full destemming, gentle crushing, and transfer to stainless steel truncated conical tanks, where fermentation begins under controlled temperature. During fermentation, the French “délestage” technique is used to increase skin contact as the must/wine is poured over the cap. This is followed by a post-fermentation skin maceration, a method commonly used in Bordeaux, which allows for gentle extraction and a refined texture. The result is a concentrated and complex wine that embraces elegance and avoids rusticity.

Ageing: Roquette & Cazes 2022 was aged for about 18 months in French oak barrels.

Winemakers: Daniel Llose (Château Lynch-Bages), Cátia Barbeta and Manuel Lobo (Quinta do Crasto).

Roquette & Cazes

The Roquette & Cazes project is above all a meeting of two friends: Jorge Roquette from Quinta do Crasto and Jaen-Michel Cazes from Château Lynch-Bages.
In 2002, the two families decided to create a company to produce great wines that were marked by the natural characteristics of the Douro and the experience of Cazes who have been making wines in Bordeaux for about a century.
A wine adventure “To make a great wine with the Douro grape varieties, a wine that shows structure and complexity, that possesses the power and the sun of Portugal combined with the elegance of Bordeaux”, said Jaen-Michel Cazes as part of this adventure.
