O Produtor, tasting note published in July 15th 2020
Of exceptional freshness, Quinta Vale D. Maria Vinha da Francisca 2018 marks by its elegance. With a depth of colour, this wine seduces by its concentrated aroma of ripe red fruits, black cherry, plum and raspberry. Elegance and freshness announce a long and creamy finish.
Grapes picked by hand, selected on the mat and destemmed before entering the granite mills. After being crushed, they ferment for 7 to 10 days in the lagares or in stainless steel vats. The wines are then racked off to new 225 litre French oak barrels where malolactic fermentation takes place. It ages for 21 months in the same barrels.

Quinta Vale D. Maria is a very old property in the heart of the Douro Demarcated Region. A small but dedicated team of winemakers and winemakers – Sandra Tavares da Silva, Joana Pinhão and Cristiano van Zeller – try to ensure that each of the Port or Douro DOC wines represents the best that the Region has to offer. The efforts try to be characterized by innovation and differentiation. The aim is that the wines reflect personality, character, pleasure, fun, being directed towards people and the pleasure of life.
