Quinta D’Azinheira
Region: Douro – Baixo Corgo sub-region
Origin
Quinta D’Azinheira is located in the authentic village of Azinheira, in Santa Marta de Penaguião, nestled in an amphitheatre of extraordinary natural beauty on the left bank of the Corgo River. The wines are produced exclusively from estate-grown grapes, cultivated at altitudes between 300 and 400 metres.
Among the greatest legacies passed down through generations are the old vines, planted in highly stony schist soils and aged between 40 and 80 years. A living heritage that reflects the region’s authenticity.
Winemaking & Ageing
The grapes, harvested at peak ripeness, were hand-picked into 20 kg boxes and carefully transported to the winery. After meticulous manual selection, they were destemmed and gently crushed. Fermentation took place in traditional stone lagares, with mechanical foot treading and pump-overs, under temperature control.
Aged for 24 months in new French oak barrels. Bottled in November 2023.
