Maçanita
DOC Douro – Cima Corgo
In 1875, Viscount Villa Maior shared a bold recommendation in his Manual of Practical Viticulture:
“When planting red grape varieties to produce fine red wine, one should not exclude a small fraction (1/10) of fine white grapes. The result is certainly a finer red wine than those made only from red grapes.”
Over a century later, the Maçanita siblings honour this vision with a wine that bridges tradition and innovation.
Crafted from over 65 traditional Douro grape varieties — both white and red — this wine comes from old vines planted at altitudes between 480 and 720 metres, in the heart of Cima Corgo. The result is a wine of freshness, elegance, and true regional identity.
Vinification & Ageing
Spontaneous fermentation in a small lagar following a cold soak to enhance aromatic expression. Extended skin maceration for 28 days, then aged for 10 months in stainless steel to preserve purity and freshness.
Winemaking
Joana Maçanita & António Maçanita
Food Pairing
Versatile and refined, this wine pairs beautifully with dark-fleshed fish (like tuna or mackerel), tartare, grilled meats, medium-aged cheeses and lightly sweet desserts.
