O Produtor, tasting note published in February 27th 2022

A deep and dense mixture of balsamic, dried red and black fruits backgrounded with graphite-tinged minerality. Texture is polished, continuous and velvety in the mouth. Richly endowed with expansive fruit at mid-palate. Firm, fine tannins develop on tongue and inner lips. Acidity seems soft initially, but rushes in at end. Big and long and very purely fruited. A seriously impressive wine for long term aging.

Herdade do Rocim

Herdade do Rocim Clay Aged is an authentic wine produced from the passion of generations who have always had the utmost respect and affection for the land. The grapes are foot-trodden in a stone lagar, with the entire bunches and only indigenous yeasts.

Climate: Typically Mediterranean, in the Vidigueira sub-region, where the climatic conditions are the mildest in the Alentejo, providing an optimal microclimate for the production of high-quality wines.

Soils: Low-yielding, of schist origin. Great pedological potential for vine cultivation and the production of excellent wines.

Winemaking: Manual harvest in 12 kg boxes. In the winery, the grapes undergo a meticulous selection on a vibrating sorting table, followed by destemming with a slight crushing of the berries. Foot-trodden in a stone lagar, with the entire bunches and only indigenous yeasts. Aged in clay amphorae for a period of 16 months, followed by 8 months in bottle.

Herdade do Rocim

Herdade do Rocim is a property located between Vidigueira and Cuba, in Baixo Alentejo, with about 120 hectares, including 70 hectares of vineyards and 10 hectares of olive groves. Acquired in 2000 by Movicortes, S.A., in the following years there was restructuring and qualification work, consummated with the planting of most of the vineyard that today constitutes the Herdade do Rocim. This process of implantation was made according to specific criteria that allow the production of high quality grapes. The winery is a structuring element of the Herdade do Rocim project, which combines wine production with the aesthetic quality of its architecture and works as a promotional element for the requalification of the region. At Herdade do Rocim all efforts go in the direction of doing well, always improving and with a constant concern for the quality of the wine.
