Gran Moraine
Nestled on the eastern slopes of Oregon’s Coastal Range, at the western edge of the Yamhill-Carlton AVA, the Gran Moraine vineyard is a regional benchmark for Pinot Noir. Planted between 2005 and 2006 with Dijon clones from Burgundy, the 194-acre site sits on fine marine sedimentary soils and benefits from a wide range of exposures and elevations — a true mosaic that challenges and inspires the viticultural and winemaking team.
Although close to the Pacific Ocean, the vineyard is protected from maritime winds and rain by the surrounding mountains, creating a more temperate and distinctive microclimate that encourages slow, balanced ripening. The resulting Pinot Noir fully reflects the terroir: pure, fresh red fruit; chalky acidity; fine, well-integrated tannins.
Winemaker Shane Moore opts for large, mostly used oak barrels, allowing subtle spice to complement — not overpower — the natural delicacy of the grape. This wine is a textbook example of Gran Moraine’s signature style: restrained elegance, vibrant freshness, and aromatic precision. A Pinot Noir of great finesse and character, ideal with game birds, mushrooms, or simply for thoughtful sipping — a faithful expression of Pinot sophistication in the American Northwest.
