Duas Quintas
Origin
Duas Quintas Reserva Red expresses the power and complexity of the Upper Douro, combined with the elegance that defines Ramos Pinto wines. It is made from grapes grown on two distinct estates: Quinta de Ervamoira (low altitude, 200 m, schist soils) and Quinta dos Bons Ares (high altitude, 600 m, granite soils), allowing for a unique balance between concentration and freshness.
Vintage
The 2022 growing season was particularly dry, with rainfall at just half the usual level. Temperatures were high, especially at Quinta dos Bons Ares, leading to an unusual ripening pattern: grapes with lower sugar content, and therefore lower alcohol and acidity, but greater concentration and volume. Despite the climatic challenges, the wine displays remarkable complexity and harmony.
Vinification and Ageing
Touriga Nacional (75%) | Touriga Franca (18%) | Tinta da Barca (7%)
The grapes were hand-picked into small boxes and carefully selected. Those from Quinta de Ervamoira were vinified in granite lagares, and those from Quinta dos Bons Ares in concrete and wooden vats. Malolactic fermentation took place in large oak vats (6,000 to 10,000 L). The wine was aged for 16 months: 70% in vats, 20% in new French oak barrels, and 10% in second-use barrels. Bottled in June 2024.
