D.Graça
A red wine to show the side of a blend of grape varieties from old vines at an altitude of 550 metres.
2017 will go down in history as a year of exceptional wines. Very hot and dry, it forced the harvest to be brought forward to dates that are unheard of in the Douro. A winter with little rain and a mild spring allowed the vine’s vegetative cycle to begin earlier than usual. Rainfall remained low throughout the growing season, leading to moderate water stress and a consequent natural adaptation of the vine to adverse conditions.
Vinification: The technology is minimalist, using granite presses with mechanical treading. After fermentation, with around a week of tanning, the wine went into stainless steel vats, where the suspended solids settled. After the malolactic process, it was transferred to oak barrels, where it aged for around six months. Bottling took place after light fining and filtration. It has been stabilised by the natural cold of two winters and may therefore form a slight precipitate over time, which in no way detracts from the quality of the wine.
Serve at 16ºC, decanting is recommended. Given its characteristics, it is suitable for special meals where grilled black pork, mirandesa steak and oven-baked dishes can shine.
