Herdade do Rocim
Crónica #328 José Ribeiro Vieira is born of dream, will and love. It is the homage to a man and his work. To someone who believed in the earth, in affections and in knowledge. To the courage to write what he thought. This wine is his last Chronicle. The one left unwritten.
The typically Mediterranean climate, in the Vidigueira wine-growing sub region, where the climate conditions are the most temperate in Alentejo, providing an optimum microclimate for the production of high quality wines. The soil is not very productive, of schistous origin, with great pedological potential for the cultivation of vines and obtaining wines of excellence. The Aragonês and Trincadeira grape varieties are conducted in ascending monoplane. The lines are East-West and the grape varieties have the same exposure (west). The harvest took place manually in 12 kg boxes. In the winery, the grapes were subjected to a careful “berry to berry” selection on a vibrating choice carpet. The cold maceration took place for 72 hours and fermentation in French oak vats, and ageing for 24 months in 500L barrels.
