O Produtor, tasting note published in May 1st 2023

Plenty of dried fruits, with notes of figs and plums, and touches of raisins. Medium-bodied, with balanced tannins and a flavourful finish. A wine ready to drink, yet with excellent ageing potential.

Roland Coifee & Associés - Château Bel-Air

Situated in the heart of the Bordeaux region, Château Bel-Air is a remarkable example of viticulture from the Première Côte of Bordeaux. Its unique location, over 80 meters above the Garonne River, provides the wine with an ideal combination of sun exposure and natural ventilation, essential characteristics for producing excellent wines.

The history of Château Bel-Air dates back to the 18th century. Over the years, it has passed through several generations and, in 1899, was acquired by the Borie family, known for its classified growths in the Médoc. In 2005, Roland Coiffe took over the property, and since then, he has managed the Château with passion and dedication, preserving tradition while also innovating in his winemaking approach. Since 2017, the vineyard has been certified organic, reflecting the family’s commitment to sustainability and the preservation of the local ecosystem.

The terroir of Château Bel-Air is a perfect reflection of the diversity of the Bordeaux region. The vines are cultivated on soils composed of gravel, clay, and sand, resting on the limestone cliff. The steep slope, facing south and southwest, ensures excellent sun exposure, while the breeze from the ocean contributes to the freshness and maturation of the grapes. These factors make Château Bel-Air a privileged site for the production of fine and well-structured wines, reflecting the complexity and richness of the terroir.

The name Bel-Air could not be more fitting, evoking the fresh breeze that sweeps across the property.
