O Produtor, tasting note published in April 25th 2024

On the nose, it reveals intense aromas of red fruits and spices — the result of a gentle extraction that preserves the typicity of the grape varieties. Sweet notes of rockrose, flowers, blackberries, and spices add complexity. On the palate, it is remarkably smooth, with very fine tannins and a balanced acidity that enhances its gastronomic versatility.

Castello D’Alba

Origin
The grapes come from vineyards located in the Upper Douro, at an average altitude of 400 metres, mostly planted on south-facing terraces. The selection favours parcels that produce fresh, aromatic wines with medium structure and a food-friendly profile. The aim is to faithfully express the “terroir” of the Upper Douro, with its signature notes of rockrose and elegant dark fruits.

Vinification
Touriga Nacional (40%) | Touriga Franca (40%) | Tinta Roriz / Tempranillo (20%)
Hand-harvested grapes. Upon arrival at the winery, the grapes are fully destemmed and gently crushed. Fermentation takes place in small stainless steel vats, using indigenous yeasts. Maceration is soft and carefully controlled to preserve the wine’s finesse and elegance.

Ageing
Aged in stainless steel vats to retain freshness and aromatic purity.

Food Pairing
A versatile red, ideal on its own or paired with traditional Portuguese dishes, Mediterranean cuisine, or oriental flavours.

Rui Roboredo Madeira Vinhos

In one of the most remote areas of the Iberian Peninsula, on the border between the Douro Superior and Beira Alta regions, it was among family that its passion grew for the aromas and smells of this land that shapes our character.
After coming into contact with many cultures of living and making wine, in various parts of the globe, Rui Madeira returned to the great Douro valley convinced that they have the potential to make the best wines in the world.
Out of respect for nature, due to the way we cultivate their vineyards and wines reflect his experiences, which smell and taste of land, of schist, damp granite, rock rose, wild flowers and fruit.
It is in the winery that he makes wines with the character of our ‘terroir’, expressed through native grape varieties, which instil with a style of their own and an international profile.
