With origins dating back to 1565, Château Beychevelle is an unmissable name in the Médoc. Over more than three centuries, this Saint-Julien Grand Cru Classé has been shaped by influential figures — from the first Duke of Épernon to the Heine family, not forgetting notable women like Marie-Amélie Kohn and Elisabeth de Foucaud, who contributed to its charm, hospitality, and refinement.
Today, under the stewardship of Grands Millésimes de France (Castel and Suntory), Château Beychevelle continues to impress both with the elegance of its wines and the beauty of its gardens, as well as the artistic spirit that has always animated it. As Robert Parker said in 1990, “The wines of Beychevelle can be as beautiful as the magnificent flowering gardens that surround them.”
The estate covers 250 hectares, about 90 of which are planted with vines. The remainder of the land includes meadows where Limousin cows graze, and wooded areas with pine, ash, poplar, and walnut trees — a living landscape that expresses the balance between nature and viticultural culture.
