Once Upon a time…
A DREAMER
Francisco Ferreira (the grandpa Pôpa) was a bastard of the great Douro wine producer and his maid, Joaquina Ferreira.
He lived a simple but happy life even in the shadow of his of his unknown father. He married Filomena with whom he had three children.
Pôpa was a very charismatic person, known and respected by people surrounded by him. Today, even though he is no longer with us,he becomes an inspiration for the Ferreira family, a birth father, creator of a fantastic legacy, the Pôpa family, with fundamental family values.
His biggest dream was to be recognized and appreciated for his work and his father. He never achieved it in life.
THE CREATOR
A generation later, his son Zeca completed his father’s dream and bought Quinta do Vidiedo, located in Adorigo – Tabuaço. As a tribute to his father, he changes the name and calls his property Quinta do Pôpa.
The search for his independence started very early in the vineyard, right after finishing 4th grade. His father installed in him the ability to work and resilience; life gave him courage. The journey of Zeca was long and arduous. After many years and all the effort he put, the acquisition of the property rejuvenated him. It gave him recognition in the Douro region, the biggest ambition of his father.
Later, his friend Luís Pato, an oenologist from Bairrada and a lover of the Douro, offered his technical knowledge to the family, challenging the third generation Pôpa to expand the dream.
Located in Tabuaço in the Douro Wine Region, Quinta do Pôpa is a timeless dream managed by the brothers Stéphane and Vanessa Ferreira.
With a production of just 90,000 bottles and under the baton of Enologist Carlos Raposo, here wines are dissipated with a True Sense of Place (the true sense of origin), reinforcing in advance that everything in nature needs time and respect.
In life and work, the entire team is guided by common social and environmental values, as well as by the motto: Dream, Create and Always Celebrate!
