Quinta do Portal
In general, the 2019 viticultural year presented itself with cooler temperatures and lower levels of precipitation than normal. In winter we had lower average temperatures, mainly in January and reduced precipitation levels, with the exception of November budbreak occurred in mid-March and in April we recorded high precipitation levels. Flowering at the end of May, benefited from the average temperatures observed. In June and August average temperatures were lower, and in August we even had precipitation. During the harvest the trend of cooler temperatures and less rainfall continued, which prolonged the ripening time, leading to a rather long and unpressured vintage. In fact, it was our longest vintage with 50 days of cutting and was also our 5th vintage which started in August.
The 2019 vintage promises for the freshness in the white wines and the balance in the reds. Maceration in small lagares at a temperature of 28-30ºC, using only gravity to move grapes, must and wine Aging 18 Months in new French oak casks. Bottling July 2021/cork stopper
