For this harvest we selected Alicante Bouschet grapes from the
Pinheiro Ramudo vineyard. The year 2018 was characterised by
temperatures and large diurnal and nocturnal temperature variations during the
ripening period, which resulted in perfect grapes. Vinification
took place in stainless steel vats at a controlled temperature (25ºC),
followed by a period of post-fermentation skin maceration,
to extract the best compounds from the grapes. Then 85% of the wine
aged for 13 months in French oak barrels of
second and third year French oak barrels in order to refine the tannins and harmonise
everything.
