Fonseca 10 Years of Age is reddish-brown in colour, with brilliant crimson reflections and a fragrant bouquet of ripe fruit. Its silky smooth texture and subtle oak nuances are balanced by fresh acidity and tannic "grip", culminating in a long, elegant finish with fruity notes reminiscent of plums.
As Tawny Port wines age, they become more aloof as they release their deposits in the cask instead of in the bottle. Racking contributes to the oxidation process, a process responsible for gradually diminishing the fruit qualities and the wine acquires nutty characteristics. The wines from this large reserve of aged Ports are then carefully blended to achieve balance and consistency of style.

Fonseca’s respect for the vineyard and the unique environment of the Douro Valley expresses itself in the firm’s leadership in the field of sustainable and organic viticulture. It was the first house to offer a Port made entirely from organically produced grapes.
However for many wine enthusiasts around the world Fonseca is best known as the producer of Bin No.27. This fine reserve Port, launched four decades ago, is one of the most popular and successful Port blends. Sharing the heritage of the great Fonseca Vintage ports, it displays the opulent fruity character which defines the Fonseca house style.
