A Vinha, tasting note published in August 9th 2021

Encruzado is a productive grape variety with no major setbacks, perfect for making single wines or, alternatively, to liven up many Dão blends. When well cultivated in the vineyard and in the cellar, it has delicate aromas of roses and violets, light citrus notes, a little resin and, under certain conditions, intense mineral notes. Among its greatest virtues is its unique ability to maintain an almost perfect balance between sugar and acidity, resulting in serious, structured, smooth wines with extraordinary ageing capacity.
For the time being, its area of influence is limited to the Dão region, although it is beginning to be cultivated in other Portuguese regions, making it one of the most valuable varieties in Portuguese winemaking, one of the few white varieties of impeccable quality.
