O Produtor, tasting note published in June 28th 2020

Grande Villae red is a heritage wine, with a strong and generous personality, which tells us about the Taboadella vineyard that has always produced reds with a complex intensity and a very elegant structure. But it is also a wine of the future that surprises for its energy, amplified by the minerality very present and where in each taste we find the cry of the territory, the pure expression of the granite, the subtle elegance of the grape varieties cultivated in high lands and with persistence, respects the memory of its place!

Thanks to the meticulous work done throughout the year, a remarkable grape quality was obtained. A longer ripening period allowed for a purified phenolic ripening which was fundamental to obtain the desired quality levels. The wines were aromatically pure, with lush fruit and enormous complexity. As a clear consequence of long maturation, the wines from the 2018 vintage have a vertical structure, opulent body and a silky texture, very characteristic of the unique place of Taboadella vineyards. 100% destemmed by vibration. Aged for 12 months in new 500 litre French oak barrels.
Limited to existing stock. In case the wine you bought is out of stock, we will contact you to propose a different wine, or to return the amount paid.

The connection of the Amorim family to wine dates back to 1870, through its first business in the production of cork stoppers for the Port Wine Cellars in Vila Nova de Gaia. Today it is one of the most prominent family groups in Portugal, extending its business in several countries of the world in different sectors of activity.
Since 1999, the fourth generation has been developing the wine business through the hands of Luisa Amorim, working in estates of excellence where the vine and wine have ancestral roots and a deep cultural sense: in the Douro, in Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo and now in Dão, in Taboadella, creating wines with an extraordinary character, coming from unique places.
