O Produtor, tasting note published in May 27th 2013
Opaque red with a complex aroma, predominantly floral and ripe red fruits integrated with notes of spices and toast. In the mouth it is bulky and concentrated, with firm, round tannins. Long and fresh finish, with enough fruit present.
Vineyard: planted in clay and limestone soils on a gentle slope facing south, the vine rows are oriented north-south. The vineyard is managed under an accurate sustainable agriculture farming system. Grapes harvested manually at dawn and morning for small boxes. Alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperature and cold pre-fermentation maceration. Malolactic fermentation, partially in barrel. Then it aged for 12 months in French oak barrels (20% in new barrels). Then it staged in the bottle for 8 months.
The RG Rovisco Garcia brand originates from the Carvalho Rovisco Garcia family. Linked to farming for several generations, the family still manages their lands in the municipality of Avis, Alto Alentejo. In 1998, Maria Antónia de Carvalho Rovisco Garcia delegates to her two sons, Francisco and António José, the management of the lands she inherited from her parents. From this time a new dynamic is introduced, with investments in Olival and Vinha. For the marketing of the products of the estates of Maria Antónia de Carvalho Rovisco Garcia was created, in 2008, RG – Herdade do Monte Novo e Conqueiro – Products of te farm, wines and olives of Alentejo, ACE.
