O Produtor, tasting note published in April 27th 2018
This is a big and powerful vintage with a savory character and dark red fruit (black cherries, raspberries), floral (elderflowers), yeasty, white chocolate and delicate citrus notes on the deep, spicy, very pure and mineral nose. On the palate, this is a complex, highly elegant, finessed and balanced.
The 2009 Clos des Goisses is composed of two-thirds Pinot Noir and one-third Chardonnay. The 2009 is super delicate right now and is already drinking beautifully, but it will even improve and receive new dimensions with bottle age.
Champagne region is home to the Philipponnat family. Since 1522, Philipponnat’s legacy has been passed down through the ages. A long line of men and women took great care to pass on the family expertise and values: individuality, excellence, generosity and humility. Established in the heart of the Champagne wine-growing area, a Pinot Noir champagne specialist, Philipponnat possesses a unique heritage: Its magnificent, historic 18th century cellars and an exceptional walled single vineyard: the Clos des Goisses.
